Central processing unit C.P.U

"Central Processing Unit"

  • Central Processing Unit (CPU) or the processor is also often called the brain of computer
  • CPU consists of Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU) and Control Unit (CU)
  • In addition, CPU also has a set of registers which are temporary storage areas for holding data, and instructions. ALU performs the arithmetic and logic operations on the data that is made available to it.
  •  CU is responsible for organizing the processing of data and instructions.
  • CU controls and coordinates the activity of the other units of computer.
  •  CPU uses the registers to store the data, instructions during processing.

monitor, (computer hardware)

Computer hardware: MONITORS: A monitor or display (sometimes called a visual display unit) is a piece of electrical equipment which displays images generated by devices such as computers, without producing a permanent record. The monitor comprises the display device, circuity and an enclosure. Many hardware technologies exist for displaying computer-generated output: liquid crystal display (LCD), thin film transistor (TFT-LCD), cathode ray tube (CRT), and plasma display. THe performance of a monitor is measured by display resolution ( the number of distinct pixels in each dimension that can be displayed), Refresh rate (the number of times in a second that a display is illuminated) dot pitch (the distance between pixels of the same colour in millimeters) and aspect ratios (the ratio of the horizontal length to the vertical le

Motherboard (computer hardware)

Computer hardware: MOTHERBOARD: The motherboard is the man component inside the case. It is a large rectangular board with integrated circuitry that connects the rest of the computer including the CPU, the ram, the disk drives (CD, DVD, hard disk or many others) as well as any peripherals connected via the ports of the expansion slots. Components directly attached to the motherboard include: CPU performs of the calculations which enable A computer to function, and is sometimes referred to as the "brain" of the computer. It is usually cooled by a heat sink and fan. The chipset mediates communication between the CPU and the other components of the system, including main memory. RAM stores all running processes (applications) and the current running OS. RAM staNds for random access memory. The BIOS includes boot firmware and power management . The basic input output system tasks are hadled by operating systems drivers. Internal buses connect the CPU to various internal components and to expansion cards for graphics and sound. This include PCI express (for graphics), PCI (for other cards), SATA (for disk drivers), ATA, AGP etc. External bus controllers support ports for external peripherals such as USB, SCSI etc.
